General Manager

Port Elizabeth

 Minimum requirements

  • National Diploma or Degree in Operations, Business Management or related qualification.

  • Have a minimum of 15 years’ management experience in an automotive manufacturing environment

  • Have an in-depth knowledge of a Manufacturing environment preferably in the Automotive industry

  • Experience in strategic business planning.

  • Working knowledge of IATF16949, VDA6.1, ISO14001 standards and practices.

  • Knowledge and experience in understanding financial concepts and principles (forecasting & financial analysis; EBITDA; Budgeting and costing).

  • Knowledge and experience in lea lean manufacturing principles with a proven track record of implementation.

  • Knowledge and experience in a fully integrated IT system (preferably SYSPRO).

  • Overseeing daily business activities, improving overall business functions, training heads of departments, managing budgets, developing strategic plans, creating policies, and communicating business goals (KPI Management).

  • Defining long-term strategic goals and developing clear plans to implement them






  • Oversee implementation of business plan to address and contribute to key business goals whilst meeting financial and operational objectives.

  • Oversee management of Production, Logistics, Quality, Maintenance, HR, and HSEE departments according to agreed KPI’s and plant priorities.

  • Develop and maintain organisational structure to optimise effectiveness of people in various functions.

  • Ensure adherence to statutory compliance; ISO & OEM system requirements to ensure that all customer requirements and internal processes are met.

  • Control costs within budget parameters.

  • Ensure and guide implementation of continuous improvement in the plant.

  • Ensure successful program launches.

  • Involvement in defining and steering corporate culture & employee relationships


Paint Plant Manager


Requirements for this position are as follows:


  • Relevant Tertiary education;

  • 5-10 years Painting experience in automated paint facilities.

  • Knowledge / Experience of paint chemistry (Solvent & Waterborne), fault finding and & problem solving.


Key Functions:        

  • Lead/Manage a large Paint Department.

  • Establish root cause and implement world class solutions to improve products.

  • Liaise with senior staff at OE Customers as well as international Suppliers.


Business Development & Acquisition Manager


Minimum requirements:


  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience

  • Previous experience in sales and in program management is an advantage

Skills and competencies:

  • Good technical knowledge of the considered product (serial production, product plan and innovations)

  • Knowledge of Acquisition process management and Customer relationship management

  • Comfortable with financials

  • Good written and oral communication presentation skills

  • Business international mindset

  • Accountable and results oriented – Get the things done

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Team player and ability to work in a matrix organization and to interface with several hierechical levels


Customer Knowledge and Relationship

  • Knows the customer organization and identifies the key deciders or influence people for the related acquisition

  • Collects and synthesises all the customer requests and wishes (explicit and implicit)

  • Interfaces the customer in all related departments (research and predevelopment, development, product planning) to get on one hand a clear vision of the customer targets (which technology does the customer want, what is he ready to pay, what can he gets for his value, and on the other hand information how the competitors are acting (product and price wise) on the related acquisitions

  • Defines with Sales and Engineering the necessary steps (presentations, prototypes, visits, etc…) to influence the customer specification towards client offer or Unique Selling Devices proposed by client

  • Gets from the customer the preliminary specifications, distributes it within client and supports the related client’s departments in their modifications requests / proposals on the specifications

Request for quotation, offer preparation and contractual preparation

  • Makes sure that all the technical documentation received is analysed in due time, that all risks are identified and under control

  • Proposes the commercial strategy for the acquisition (prices, give-backs, other requests)

  • Organizes with the customer all the necessary presentations, attends and ensures minutes and actions plans after each meeting

  • Launches long before submission to the customer the writing of the offer according to client’s standard offer, documents in parallel the contract review check list and reviews these documents with Division Management and Sales & Marketing PG Management

  • Prepares the price break down according to the customer usage, documents the services sold to the customer and the statement of work Customer / Client

  • Validates with Finance the prices proposed, their break down and the impact of price changes, give-backs on the profitability of the business

Offer presentation, submission and negotiation, customer decision

  • Organizes necessary meetings with the customer to present the offer (technical, economical aspects)

  • Ensures that every offer submitted to the customer or offer modification is complete and always refers to complete offer

  • Gets the customer feedback on the offer, distributes it internally

  • Negotiates the elements of the offer with the purchasing department within the limits defined in the contract review and the RFQA, records all the agreements with the customer and up dates the contractual documentation
