Senior Systems Engineer

Port Elizabeth

Minimum requirements:

  • Matric or Grade 12 or NQF4

  • Information Technology - national diploma or bachelor’s degree (optional)

  • Relevant Information Technology technical qualification

  • ITIL Foundation v3/v4 (optional)

  • Driver’s license minimum code 08

  • Must be have knowledge of Microsoft Server Environment

  • Must understand VMWare environments.

  • Knowledge/understanding of the following:

  • Microsoft Networking Services (Active Directory, DNS, PKI, DHCP)

  • MS Exchange, Office 365

  • Mimecast

  • VMware

  • Hyper-V

  • Config Management (SCCM, Altiris)

  • Anti-Virus (MacAfee, Symantec)

  • Hardware: HP, IBM, Lenovo, Dell


  • Under general supervision, responsible for installation and operational support of Microsoft based infrastructure and related back-end systems

  • Effectively executes all related tasks within the support areas with the focus on SLA management and delivery against these

  • Participation in project planning and implementations

  • Problem solving/resolution

  • Administration of client server environment as well as maintain and support the operating systems.

  • Good sound knowledge of AD and DNS.

  • Good sound knowledge of Microsoft Exchange.

  • Good sound knowledge of Microsoft Infrastructure Design

  • Understand SCCM/WSUS implementation.

  • Monitoring, routine health checks and support of servers (hardware, hypervisors and software)

  • Pro-active support and maintenance of client environment

  • Support and troubleshooting of client environment

  • Setup and configuration of Windows Server OS

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of Windows Server OS

  • Setup and configuration of VMWare

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of VMWare

  • Provisioning of virtual servers within VMWare

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of VMWare virtual servers.


Project Lead (x2)


Minimum requirements:

  • B.Sc / B.Comm / B.Sc Eng – IT related degree or IT related diploma

  • Proven track record in managing multiple, large scale IT projects

  • Has worked on and successfully delivered several complex projects

  • An excellent understanding of IT project methodologies (eg. Prince 2), processes and procedures



  • Work with key stakeholders to understand business requirements to create a business case

  • Plan, define and scope assigned projects to company standards using defined tools, methodologies, processes and procedures, to create well defined projects which align with Business and IT strategies

  • Manage assigned projects from initiation to close (and review where appropriate), in line with defined company standards, in order to ensure that projects are delivered to agreed cost, time and quality measures, and meet their overall objectives

  • Acquire the resources and skills needed to create a project team that is able to deliver the project objectives, and provide effective team leadership, ensuring that performance is maintained so that projects are delivered within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality

  • Ensure that project quality, change control and risk management processes are implemented and followed on all assigned projects, so that any issues and risks can be identified and responded to

  • Provide regular and accurate reports (including project forecasting) to stakeholders so that they have the information they need to review the progress of their project/s

  • Monitor and control resources (including 3rd parties), revenue and capital costs against the project budget, and communicate with stakeholders to keep them informed of project return on investment

  • Provide transparent documentation of the project to agreed VW standards, so that there are records that can be audited, referred to in the future, and used to facilitate smooth project transfer for ongoing support.


ITIL Services Engineer


Minimum requirements;

  • 3 year IT (or related) Qualification - degree or diploma (minimum)

  • Relevant ITIL Certifications

  • 3-5 years in IT Incident and Problem Management processes

  • At least 2 years participation in ITIL process adoption/adherence

  • Motor Industry IT knowledge and experience

  • Strong understanding of service delivery methods and issues.


  • Ensure professional, efficient ITIL processes are implemented and continuously and consistently adhered to across the IT division, thereby ensuring optimal response times in resolving all Incidents/Problems and/or implementing Releases/Changes and/or managing IT Assets, Capacity and Availability thereby continuously improving IT’s customer satisfaction and systems’ stability

  • Facilitating regular formal reviews/analyses of IT’s adherence to/status of the defined ITIL processes, in the appropriate forums, to ensure timeous, professional and sustainable IT solutions

  • Provide accurate up-to-date KPI’s and performance statistics in respect of the defined ITIL processes adherence, thereby enabling IT Leadership to be informed and, to take necessary remediation actions if, when and where required

  • Proactively drive/pursue resolutions for ALL problems, by engaging across the IT division, with contractors, and where appropriate business customers, to ensure speedy professional resolutions and solutions for all Incidents and Problems, and/or Releases and Changes, and/or Asset, Capacity and Availability management
