  • 5 years related experience in preventative maintenance, machine breakdowns and safety systems

  • Sound working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics

Minimum requirements:

  • Matric

  • Trade Tested Fitter / Fitter and Turner

  • N4 in Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years post apprentice experience as a Fitter.

  • Experience working on heavy industrial / automated machines

  • 3 years’ experience within a large manufacturing environment

  • Furnace, print screen machine and CNC machine experience advantageous



  • Good understanding of factory utility layouts (i.e. electrical and water reticulation, compressed air systems, and process water plant).

  • Knowledge of conditioning based monitoring

  • Working knowledge of robotics.

  • Bearings and lubrication.

  • Welding, cutting and grinding experience.

  • Pneumatics, pumps, transmission systems and general mechanics.

  • Knowledge of maintenance on CNC machines

  • Working knowledge of OSHACT

  • Knowledge of shut down maintenance



  • Identify, verify and analyse reasons for downtime through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions to repair the fault in order to ensure timeous resumption of production.

  • Ensure that inspections on running machinery and equipment is carried out in order to prevent unnecessary downtime.

  • Ensure adherence to the maintenance schedule by carrying out preventative and scheduled maintenance so that the risk of unplanned downtime is minimised.

  • Ensure adherence to all safety rules and regulations by all personnel and contractors on site to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Participate in problem solving workshops and process improvement discussions to support MDW.

  • Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support decision making for the business.



East London

Minimum requirements:

  • NQF 4 (Grade 12) qualification & Toolmaker Trade Test

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Metrologist in an automotive or manufacturing environment

  • Must have a good understanding of TS16949 or ISO9001

  • Must have 3 years’ CMM programming experience

  • Ferro Arm programming capability advantageous


  • Plan and manage activities in the Metrology lab

  • Assist with capability studies for new products and processes

  • Assist production with process optimization and product capability

  • Support projects department with PPAP submission

  • Conduct process capability studies

  • Conduct gauge MSA studies

  • Participate in scrap reduction meeting

  • Support Process Engineers with problem solving by means of measurement support

  • Able to compile CMM programs and alter current programs to improve measurement times.

  • Improve current CMM programs to increase efficiency of the Metrology Department.

  • Introduce Ferro Arm programs for all checking fixtures, verify checking fixtures and compile Ferro arm programs.

  • Assist production with welding jig verification using Ferro arm.

  • Assist production with the jig adjustments using Ferro arm.

  • Train current Quality personnel on CMM, Ferro Arm and GOM machine
